Housebound and Aid & Attendance

Veterans and survivors who are eligible for Pension benefits and are Housebound or require the Aid and Attendance of another person may be eligible to receive additional monetary amounts. These are called

ENHANCED PENSION BENEFITS. There are two types of Enhanced Pension Benefits; Aid & Attendance Benefit and Housebound Benefits.

Veterans and widows of veterans may receive these additional tax free income benefits, from the VA if they need assistance with their activities of daily living (bathing, walking, eating, toileting, dressing) and or Housebound.

One benefit is a Special Monthly Pension called “Aid & Attendance.” This benefit is based on a person’s assets and income.

The other benefit the “Housebound Benefit” is an increased monthly pension amount that may be added to your monthly pension amount when you are substantially confined to your immediate premises because of a permanent disability.
